Our Journey with Alice's Cottages
Our journey began six years ago in April 2018 when we (Tom and Bec) purchased Alice's Cottages as a sister property to our labour of love, The Dragonfly Inn (also in Launceston) just a few blocks further up the hill in West Launceston.
With Bec's sister Sarah aboard, we set about stripping back some of the over-the-top decorations and putting our own thumbprint on the branding and the business model.
A new cottage: We created a brand new cottage to the fold in 2021, converting the reception building into an Australiana bush outback themed cottage "Ironbark", paying homage to our farming heritage in central New South Wales.
A new theme: We converted one of the long-outdated themes, from Camelot to Outlander. Outlander being one of Bec's favourite tv shows - an epic fictional romantic tale of English woman, Clare's, journey back through time and space to the Scottish highlands to find her soulmate, Jamie Fraser.
Rejuvenation: In 2023, we rejuvenated the remaining cottages - English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh and French. We also centred their themes around the striking Tasmanian seasons - English Summer, Irish Spring, Scottish Winter and Welsh Autumn. Our aim was to stay true to their heritage themes whilst infusing them with a fresh, contemporary take in styling, and introducing more modern comforts.
